Management Accountant - Revenues

This is a new opportunity for a Management Accountant with a Revenues bias to join this international business within the finance team, responsible for all first-line revenue recognition (excluding Professional Services revenue), contract invoicing, processing of contract price changes / cancellations in the finance systems and the provision of related analysis and management information. 

The role will interface with the Sales Team and Revenue Control Team providing and sharing key data on existing customer contracts and to help with new opportunities and commercial changes. Furthermore, this role will correspond efficiently with customers helping to resolve related queries, in particular on invoices raised.

Job Responsibilities

Key tasks include:

  • Ensure that global revenue (excluding Professional Services) is recognised in accordance with IFRS, highlighting issues and providing first-line analysis of revenue recognition on new contracts to the Business Finance Controller
  • Calculation and posting of month-end journals globally
  • In depth analysis of monthly revenues, contracts in backlog, contract attrition and assistance in the production of management reporting
  • Reconciliation of related key revenue related balance sheet accounts, e.g. Unbilled and Deferred revenue
  • Provide a reliable forecast of revenues from existing contracts
  • Sole responsibility for the accuracy of the Contracts Administration module of Great Plains (encompassing all recurring revenue contracts across multiple entities and locations), updating for new contracts, cancellations and financial changes
  • Preparation of information for Commission calculations
  • Assisting with credit control functions to ensure timely settlement by customers
  • Ensure that contracts are invoiced in accordance with the agreed process
  • Communication of annual price increases to customers and processing of associated changes
  • Liaising with the Sales Team and Revenue Control Team to provide key information for new bids
  • Maintenance of key controls over the revenue recognition procedures
  • Maintaining knowledge of changes in accounting standards which may impact on revenue recognition
  • Undertake project work as required


Key Skills 

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and comfortable dealing with large volumes of data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and pride in accuracy
  • Ability to communicate at all stakeholder levels, both internally and with customers
  • Ability to work to deadlines, whilst being able to prioritise amongst diverse requests from across the company spectrum
  • Desire for continuous development and improvement of the processes


Desirable Skills

  • Experience of the Great Plains accounting system
  • Experience of a Business planning and analysis tool, such as Anaplan



  • University educated
  • 1 year post-qualification experience from a recognised Accounting accreditation Board
  • Experience of a multi-site / multi-entity global organisation
  • Experience of revenue recognition accounting standards and practices
