Group Controller - Purchase to Pay

SmartStream, a global software and managed services provider to the world’s top banks, asset managers, custodians and broker dealers, is looking for a Purchase to Pay Controller to join our growing Finance team in Bristol.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identification of key suppliers, their agreements and payment profiles
  • With users, develop reporting on purchases, AP balances and processing performance
  • Maintain reliable and relevant supplier records and controls in CONCUR and AP and banking
    • activity categorisation
    • payment categories and banking details 
    • resolve invoicing anomalies (missing invoices, high / low variances)
  • Optimise P2P processing
    • monitor backlog and throughput 
    • identify prepayments and other Balance Sheet orders
  • The post-holder will review and approve purchase requests (thereby generating Purchase Orders) having regard to the appropriate selection of item types and accounts
  • Co-ordinate and review Group-wide reconciliation between AP balances and GL
  • Maintain banking operations in terms of authorities, access and cash book postings and reconciliations
  • When necessary, create payments in the banks for approval by senior management.Maintain credit card records ensuring timely booking of costs

 

Key Skills 

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and comfortable dealing with large volumes of data
  • Good organisation and planning skills to ensure that the workload is managed and deadlines achieved
  • Ability to identify and solve problems and to seek assistance where appropriate
  • Able to develop good working relationships locally and internationally
  • Able to manage the conflict between detailed compliance and effective control
  • Change positive, to accept that changes elsewhere in the company may impact on duties and processes
  • Able and willing to travel internationally – particularly to India
     

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of CONCUR and GP would be advantageous; 2+ years of using an enterprise accounting package is essential.
  • 2+ years in a purchase-led environment
  • Good written and spoken English – any other European language is an advantage 
  • Experience of implementing distributed-user software
  • An accredited accountancy qualification
  • Experience of SME working and culture (small team flexibility and cross-capability)
  • Excel skills sufficient to manipulate and tabulate data
