Chief Executive Officer

Philippe Chambadal, CEO of SmartStream, is also the CEO of DClear - a wholly-owned subsidiary of DIFC Investments and SmartStream's parent company. As the CEO of DClear, Philippe led the acquisition of SmartStream in 2007.

Prior to his appointment he served as a SmartStream board member and actively driving the Company’s progress in the marketplace. Philippe has held senior management positions in software and hi-tech firms for the past 15 years. He was the Founder & CEO of MetaMatrix, the leading data services platform purchased by Red Hat. Prior to MetaMatrix, he was EVP at FAME Software, a Warburg Pincus portfolio company - subsequently acquired by Sungard.

Additionally, Philippe co-founded Reuters New Media and was responsible for the successful launch of the Reuters Terminal, the first Windows-based product launched in the financial market. He also created and led the Research & Analytics division at Instinet.

Andy joined SmartStream’s Board of Directors in February 2007. With 25 years experience of working in the software industry he brings significant financial expertise in managing fast growing companies. Prior to joining SmartStream Andy held senior Finance positions with SeeBeyond, Documentum, Symantec, Ashton Tate and Honeywell Control Systems. Andy is a qualified Chartered Accountant who has recently led a number of successful systems project implementations and Sarbanes Oxley and Revenue Recognition projects.

Richard Cummings

Richard joined SmartStream in 2002 and has brought a wealth of experience with him, having worked in the financial services and financial technology industry for over 20 years.

Prior to heading up the company's global sales operations, Richard achieved significant success in his role as the Asia Pacific and UK Regional Director. Previously he worked for Reuters as the Business Director for the UK and Ireland Risk Management business, a role he also held in Reuters Asia Pacific. Prior to his Reuters career he worked at SunGard Capital Markets in Asia, London and Europe. Richard has also held management roles at Morgan Guaranty Trust Co of New York, Credit Suisse Financial Products and Barclays.

William Gates

Executive Vice President, Product Management
As head of product management, Bill is responsible for solution strategy and positioning, driving innovation and ensuring that SmartStream customers receive the highest return on their investments in SmartStream platforms.

Before joining SmartStream in 2006, Bill led product management and marketing for SunGard’s enterprise financial messaging products business unit, and marketing for the reconciliations, exception management and financial messaging business. At Reuters, Bill handled business development and alliance programs, principally for equities; he ran two high-level strategy assignments for the Group’s Executive Committee, in foreign exchange and in equities; had responsibility for introducing a new equities straight through processing product line in the Americas; and led the development and global roll-out of an electronic trading system for foreign exchange Forwards transactions.

Bill holds a B.A. degree in economics from the University of Chicago and did his graduate work (M.Sc. Econ) at the London School of Economics.
Luis Longhi

Head of Latin America

Lou has worked at SmartStream Technologies since its inception, using his experience in the financial services industry to help lead the company's US operations.

Prior to joining SmartStream, Lou was Global Sales Director for Complex Systems, Inc. in New York for six years. During his tenure there Lou had several assignments including building and managing the Latin American Market, the Middle Eastern Market and Asia Pacific Markets.

Lou attended the US Air Force Academy and Seton Hall University where he received a BS in Business Administration, majoring in Management. Lou is also an accomplished flight instructor and aerobatic pilot.

John Mason

Chief Executive Officer, Utilities

John joined SmartStream in 2008 as Regional Director for the UK, and brought significant management experience to the company, having worked in the financial technology industry for many years in both the UK and Europe. As SmartStream’s CEO for Utilities he is responsible for leveraging SmartStream technology to create and run industry utilities to meet the ever increasing need to drive down cost per trade.

Prior to joining SmartStream, John worked for Capco Reference Data Service/Netik LLC as Managing Director for EMEA. Other previous positions include management roles at a number of software vendors including BCS Plc, Aleri and GoldenSource.

Alastair McGill

Alastair McGill

Executive Vice President, Business Development and Alliances

Alastair is EVP, Business Development and Alliances for SmartStream. The global business development team creates alliances and sales channels that compliment SmartStream's direct sales operation and aligns partners to the company's key growth initiatives. Working with Infrastructure and Service providers, market participants, System Integrators, BPO Providers, Resellers, Solutions partners and consultancies the team investigates and invests in new markets, solutions and sectors to create sustainable value for SmartStream and its partners.

Prior to joining SmartStream in 2004 as Chief Marketing Officer, Alastair held several marketing management and alliance positions with Hewlett-Packard and PeopleSoft.

Steve Moss

Steve Moss

Solutions Director

Steve is a SmartStream veteran with 25 years experience in financial services technology. Steve was instrumental in designing and building the company’s reconciliations products that were the foundation of SmartStream’s development.

As solutions Director, Steve’s global remit is to extend commercial opportunities through creative solution development for SmartStream’s global client base. Steve also provides direction to SmartStream’s products, solutions and market focus.

David Porter

David Porter

HR Director

David is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources worldwide.  He joined SmartStream in December of 2008.  Prior to this he gained extensive international HR experience with Shell, Thomson Financial and International SOS.

David graduated from the University of Glasgow with honours in Political Economy and Economic History and is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Mark Roth

Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer, Mark brings a wealth of experience to SmartStream having held senior marketing roles for over 20 years. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of marketing and communications activities across the company.

Prior to joining the company Mark was with Vitria Technology heading up the corporate marketing function, where he leveraged the existing brand awareness and history of success to build a new and deeper understanding of the Company and its marquee solutions. Previously Mark was responsible for marketing at MetaMatrix, the leading SOA company, overseeing all aspects of their marketing efforts. Earlier, Mark oversaw the marketing at DataSynapse, RareMedium Inc, McGraw-Hill’s Standard & Poor’s Financial Services Consumer Division and at New York State’s ‘I Love New York’ campaign.

Christian Schiebl

Executive Vice President

Christian joined SmartStream following the acquisition of Management Data. He brings more than 18 years experience in financial IT to his role as EVP overseeing SmartStream’s business in Europe, India and China.

Prior to joining SmartStream, Christian was a Principle Consultant at both Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) and Compaq after it bought DEC, and later held senior level positions at Management Data. Christian holds a Masters and PhD in Physics from Vienna Technical University.

Katharina Zimmermann

Corporate Counsel and Company Secretary

Katharina Zimmermann joined Management Data, now part of the SmartStream Technologies Group, as Legal Counsel, in 1995. Following the IBO from Geac, Katharina was appointed Corporate Counsel and Company Secretary. Previously, Katharina held the position of Legal Counsel at EDV GmbH, and holds a degree in Law from the University of Vienna.
